Long weekend for Easter! What are you reading…?

Since Easter is probably one of the most boring holidays in Sweden–everything is closed–and I am not particularly religious so I don’t go to church–I need plenty of books to keep me busy. Otherwise, I would drive my husband and his parents insane or vice versa. 🙂

This Easter I am reading The Somnambulist by Essie Fox and it’s a real page turner. For those of you who have never heard of the book, it tells the story of Phoebe Turner, seventeen-year-old girl living in Victorian London with her religious fanatic mother and her artistically inclined aunt. Phoebe longs for a life more colorful and not weighed down by her mother’s hypocrisy and religious fervor. All that changes when her aunt revives her singing career at Wilton’s Music Hall and Phoebe spots an elusive stranger who fascinates her. That moment changes the course of her life forever, taking her from the chaos and sulfurous air of the East End to the luxury of seemingly idyllic Dinwood Court in Herefordshire. What transpires is a story of lost love, murder and madness in an evocative Gothic atmosphere. Phoebe is the perfect Gothic heroine–at times plucky, at times reticent. And the mystery she finds herself in is enthralling.

I will probably finish The Somnambulist before Easter is over but I am prepared…I’ve loaded up my Kindle with several new books: Book Five in the GoT series–A Dance With Dragons, Nana Malone’s latest release Sexy in Stilettos, The Selkie Spell by Sophie Moss and All is Bright by Sarah Pekkanen. I also have the latest issue of The Writer and a chapter I’ve outlined and need to finish writing. I think I will not go batty with boredom this weekend. 🙂

So what about you? What are you reading for Easter?
