Vacation reading…

The view in Mogliano…

Just a quickie to let you know that I have been reading, reading, reading while I am on vacation. 🙂 So what have I been reading?

Well, on my way from Stockholm to Mogliano, I finished reading The Comfort of Lies by Randy Susan Meyers. The story revolves around three couples and a little girl who was put up for adoption. Very harrowing story. Sometimes frustrating–yes, there were many times I wanted to slap some sense into the characters, which is probably a good sign.

Then two days ago, I started reading The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro. I’ve read all of her novels and there was only one I didn’t like (The Flirt–too much head-hopping for me, too many unsympathetic characters). But the Perfume Collector was a beautifully written novel that hit just the right chords to pull in the reader. Set in Paris and London prior to the second World War and in the years following it, the story revolves around a young English woman and the mysterious inheritance she receives from a French woman she’s never met. As the story progresses, we learn about their connection and the world of perfumery. Fascinating! 🙂

So what will I begin reading tomorrow in between swimming and relaxing and revising my own writing? S.G. Redling’s Damocles!

That’s it for tonight! Back to enjoying being in Italy!
