Let’s get Snowbound on the bestseller list! :)

dfw-kg-sb-cover-2-3d-nologoSnowbound has been live now for around two weeks and, so far, I’ve had two reviews on Amazona four-star review (paperback) and a five-star review (Kindle edition). Thanks so much to Tamekia and Erni for posting your reviews! It really means a lot to me to hear from readers who enjoy the stories I write.

Now I’m trying to spread the word about my book. I made a flyer, which I posted on my Facebook author page, and I would love it if my readers here could share it and help others who like holiday-themed love stories or who want a fun book to pass the time discover Snowbound.

We managed to keep Choose Me on Amazon’s Top 50 bestseller list for Women’s Fiction and IR Romance for close to a month and that was a novella. Let’s see if we can get Snowbound to skyrocket up the charts as well! 🙂

In the meantime, I’m trying to get my book in local bookshops. I don’t write for the money–even though it would be wonderful to be able to write fulltime. I can’t imagine a life without writing. It’s what fulfills me and it gets me through the rough times in my life.

I have a dream that within the next two years, I will be able to support myself solely through my writing, and I hope you’ll join me for the journey.

And remember–if you’ve already read Snowbound and enjoyed it, please post a review on the site where you purchased it. Thank you so much for your support!

Happy reading (and writing)!

Giveaway update and–hey, a 1-star review!

Apparently not many of my readers have iPhone 5s, so there were no winners for the Choose Me iPhone 5 cases. Well, now I know for the next giveaway. 🙂

On to other minutiae–checked my reviews on Amazon as one does and, after receiving a few 5-star reviews and a 3-star review, I received a 1-star review. At first, I was a little stunned. But then I reminded myself that one can never be guaranteed fans. There will always be someone who doesn’t like what you write for whatever reason.

I wonder how many 1-star reviews I’ll get when Maybe Baby finally comes out. Laney isn’t always the easiest of characters to love. You’ll either love her or hate her. Well, more when it’s nearer to launch date. 🙂

Back soon with book reviews and a novel update!

Happy reading (and writing)!

Post your answer in the comments section here. I will announce the winners on Sunday, 1 September at noon EST.

Good luck! 😀

Choose Me is doing well, waiting for edits of The Time Is Now and Snowbound

ImageThis has been an interesting experience for me–so far Choose Me is selling well. It was at #36 for Kindle ebooks/African American/Women’s fiction at the weekend and stayed there until yesterday. Now I am at #52.  There’s also a steady flow of people borrowing it via Amazon Prime, which great, and people rediscovering Linger: a short story. I’ve been working on a few more short stories, so I think there could be another story coming soon while we wait for the The Time Is Now

On the 16th I should receive edits for The Time Is Now, which I want to release as soon  as I’ve made any necessary changes.

Other books coming soon: Playing House, A Little Night Music and Another Cup of Love.

I’ll keep you posted on upcoming publication dates and cover reveals! 😀

Happy reading (and writing)!  And remember: if you read and enjoyed Choose Me: a novella, please consider writing a review on amazon.com or Goodreads. 🙂

Choose Me is live…

Choose Me Version 3So Choose Me is finally live. It’s not the collection of short stories I’d originally planned. A few months ago, I decided I’d rather release a novella instead of more short stories. I figured it was time for a longer piece of writing and–let’s face it–I am a little behind schedule. I can only blame it on having a heavy workload at the office and the fabulous weather here in Stockholm. It’s not often we have a summer like the current one–hardly any rain–amazingly blue skies…yes, this is the weather that makes you fall in love with Sweden. 🙂

The idea for Choose Me first came to me back in 2007. I think that was the year I reluctantly decided to try Nanowrimo–thanks Rebecca F. for encouraging me to do it! In fact, Choose Me (which was called Horizons back then) is part of the Nanowrimo novel I *almost* finished on time. I was one day late meeting the deadline due to illness and teaching an insane intensive Business English course. Instead of finishing on 30 November, I finished 1 December.

Jessica and Chris’s story starts in Choose Me. The second part of their story will come soon. 🙂 Possibly in October. And the stories I’d originally planned? Well, they’ll be released around November or December.

At the moment, Choose Me is a Kindle-only novella. I hope to be able to release it for Kobo and Nook very soon. There won’t be a print version of Choose Me but if you’d like it as a PDF, you can always contact me here and we’ll see if we can work something out. 🙂

No, I am not dead…just very, very tired and busy

How my brain feels…

Sorry again for the radio silence. I thought I would have oodles of time to update my little blog once I returned from vacation, but I’ve had a lot on my plate at work and then when I come home I am just…tired, lazy.

What free time I’ve had has been spent writing or socializing and catching up with people I had to neglect all spring (due to work).

But I promise–now that things seem to be calming down at work–I will get back to you very soon with a combo book review (three books, all three books you need to read) and an update about when Choose Me and The Time Is Now will be available. 🙂

I just need a few more days to make sure project (at work) is on schedule and then I’ll be back. 🙂

Happy reading (and writing)!

Getting closer to publishing Choose Me

Choose Me's lovely cover

Choose Me’s lovely cover

A few months ago, I shared with you a cover for a project called Choose Me. I originally thought I would have published it by April 15. That was my deadline, but then life got in the way. Well, now I am getting closer to feeling like it will be ready soon. I’ve got the first part of it under control. I’m just making some minor tweaks to it. Part One of Choose Me is a novella set in Edinburgh. Part Two will be four short stories set in Philadelphia, Richmond, Rome and London. The stories still need a tiny bit of tweaking but tweaking short stories isn’t nearly as daunting a task as tweaking a novel.

The common thread for the novella and the stories is people making choices. Choices about staying, choices about who they love and what they want. My new deadline is June 1. I think I’ll have it ready by then.

Choose Me will be available as an ebook and a POD paperback. I’ll keep you posted about the official launch date. It might be around Midsummer (June 21) since I will be in Italy the first two weeks of June.

That’s it for now! It’s bedtime for me.

Happy reading (and writing)!

P.S.

Thanks to James at goonwrite.com for making such a beautiful cover for me!
