Now, for the uninitiated, Abigail Bosanko is a Scottish author whose debut novel, Lazy Ways to Make a Living, was the sort of fantastic chick lit that put a lot of other titles in the same genre to shame. This was true thinking girl’s lit–without the usual blathering about designer clothing and main characters too stupid/shallow/too insecure/too fill-in-the-blank to make a decision. I bought Lazy Ways… one snowy afternoon in Stockholm way back in 2002 and loved it. It’s one of those books that I really ought to add to my “Books I Wish I’d Written” list. I’ve re-read it 4-5 times, still love it.
Her second novel, A Nice Girl Like Me, was also an immediate favorite. I found it hard to put down. I read it too quickly, tried to slow down, still read too quickly. Came to the end, re-read it. Then I found out Abigail had a blog and I began reading it–but then she stopped updating it and left me in limbo.
Fast-forward three years and news came that Abigail Bosanko’s third novel, The Riches of Lucy Lenox, was soon to be published. That was back in 2007. Now it’s 2010 and there’s been no sign of that book. And her publisher, Little, Brown Book Group, hasn’t updated her author page in ages.
So, Abigail Bosanko, where are you? Are the rumors saying you’ve given up writing true? I hope not. I loved your writer’s voice. I loved the characters and plots you created. And I know I can’t be the only one in the world who misses your work.
Give us a sign that you’re still writing…we miss you! 🙂
